Projects

Oak Creek Power Plant Expansion
The Oak Creek Power Plant expansion includes the construction of two 615-megawatt coal-fueled generating units. These units will be equipped with state-of-the art emission-control technology, making our Oak Creek facility one of the cleanest plants of its type in the United States. Construction began in June 2005.

Port Washington Power Plant Conversion
The existing coal-fueled Port Washington Power Plant is being converted into an intermediate-load natural gas facility. The new plant will consist of two 545-megawatt natural-gas-fueled units. We Power, the Wisconsin Energy subsidiary building the new generating units, began construction of the first unit in July 2003. On July 16, 2005, the first unit achieved commercial operation. We continue to move forward on the second unit at Port Washington and expect to complete the project in time for the peak summer season in 2008.

Blue Sky Green Field Wind Project
The wind project is being designed to generate up to 145 megawatts of electricity in the towns of Calumet and Marshfield, located in northeast Fond du Lac county.

Air Quality Control Projects
In 2000, We Energies announced our Power the Future (PTF) plan which includes investing in advanced power generation, adding renewable energy resources and improving existing power plants. Because of the complexity and significant financial investment in these major initiatives, our plan has been implemented over several stages.
